The fins, designed by Banjo Hunt of Bolero Surf, are made from 100% recycled fiberglass derived from turbine blades. Hunt's meticulous evaluation of recycled fiberglass feedstocks, including caravan panels and boat hulls, led him to identify turbine blade material as a viable option. The consistency and structural integrity of the fiberglass within turbine blades proved ideal for high-performance surfboard fins, overcoming the limitations of other recycled materials.
This approach not only reduces the reliance on virgin resources but also streamlines the manufacturing process. By eliminating the expensive and labor-intensive steps in conventional fin production, Bolero Surf is able to consolidate its production in Australia, enhancing its sustainability and performance.
